Tour Plan

As one of the world’s most beautiful wine estates they offer a visual feast across 4 000 hectares of forest, fynbos, fruit orchards and vineyards, which rise up the slopes of the Helderberg Mountains, caressed by breezes off the Atlantic Ocean. Established by Governor Willem Adriaan van der Stel in 1709, Lourensford has a proud history as a world-class fruit farm and the wealth of glorious Proteas point to our rich floral heritage. Fortunately, the winemaking tradition was revived when well-known Cape businessman, Dr Christo Wiese purchased the Estate in 1998. A visit to Alfa Romeo Museum is well worth the visit (For your own account).
Capelands Restaurant has achieved a Top 100 SA Wines List Award and together with the Art Series Collection featuring estate wines Redstone and Whitestone is what wine lovers can expect.
In 1993 Paul Boutinot commenced his search for a vineyard site with the potential to produce truly fine wine with a defining sense of origin. The classic areas, capable of growing naturally balanced grapes such as the Cote d’Or, Chablis, Paulliac, Barolo, etc. were either unavailable or unattainable (rich men’s toys), so he had to find a new classic. It took ten years to narrow the search down to a small area on the south-facing slopes of the Schapenberg, overlooking False Bay in the Cape. As soon as he was led up a steep ravine opening out into a hidden amphitheatre of potential, all his experience and intuition told him: THIS IS IT! Waterkloof was born, and the hard work began. Schapenberg (Afikaans for ‘Sheep Mountain’) nestles almost in the centre of the embrace of the Hottentots-Holland and Helderberg mountains. Its highest point is 300 metres above sea level and a scant four kilometres from the False Bay coast.
Idiom wines is based in the heart of the Helderberg range. This southernmost part of the Stellenbosch wine region provides the backdrop and the perfect climatic conditions for the incredible range of wines. A celebration of terroir, unusual varietals and masterful blends, Idiom is so- called because it is home to the Cape expression of so many European classics. The Cape Idiom, if you will.
Lunch at Capelands Restaurant embodies the deep- seated love for culinary excellence and the art of fine dining. Within the Italian and Mediterranean kitchen, a symphony of flavours awaits, as they indulge you with a medley of handcrafted pasta marvels, each infused with the essence of the homegrown garden's bountiful herbs and crisp salads. The tapestry of the menu features ethically sourced organic beef, succulent duck, and the freshest catch of the sea, all masterfully orchestrated by the skilled Chefs. Embraced by breathtaking scenery, the venue offers a sweeping panorama that unfolds from the serene stretch of the ocean to the grandeur of mountain peaks. Or Lunch at the Osteria Cheese bar. Welcome to Puglia Cheese’s Osteria Cheese Bar – a destination where cheese is more than just food. It’s paradise. It’s a way of life. Nestled on the scenic Waterkloof Wines road, this world-class eatery is the brainchild of Davide Ostuni. Here, long-standing traditions meet culinary innovation, resulting in an array of mouth-watering dishes featuring their legendary handmade creamy burrata, robiola, fior di latte, and other artisanal Italian cheeses.
